Very good bag for travel. Keep in mind it really is meant to keep items for one person; will not work for as a family pack. Nice not to be hauling more items then needed and best of all very secure

UPDATE: From my experience using this in Paris for a week, I’ve learned four things:
1) The internal slots are worthless. Whatever up put in them will invariably work its way out and fall to the bottom of the bag.
2) I got used to carrying the bag in front and didn’t have to worry about locking zippers to keep things safe.
3) The zipper water bottle pocket was the perfect size to hold the compact umbrella I found at the Eiffel Tower. It will work equally well for other compact umbrellas as well.
4) Issues with the internal slots aside, I REALLY like this bag.
Now, let’s continue with the original review, which is already in progress…
I bought this to take along on an upcoming trip to Paris. Being old and feeble, I’m a bit concerned about pickpockets and felt the security features of this pack would come in handy. The zippers for the two outside pockets latch securely and easily. They’re also not difficult to unlatch but would present a problem for anyone trying to do it unnoticed. The strap is thick enough that it can’t be casually sliced and the same goes for the sides of the bag.
I like that I can put it over one shoulder and it rides on my back and the other shoulder for a more secure frontal carry. And, when carried in front, the zippers are all oriented properly so I can access the pockets without having to reposition the bag.
It’s a good size. The main compartment holds my Rick Steves Paris guidebook, a small camera, and a folded rain poncho. I wouldn’t put too much faith in the credit card slots because they’re slippery, and anything in them is likely to mingle with what else is in the bag. (Turns out, I was right.) However, an internal zipped compartment can be used to hold cards and receipts. There’s also a smaller outside compartment that might be useful to hold some cash, a credit (not debit!) card, and metro and museum pass to avoid having to pull out my wallet too often. They even included a tiny flashlight to help look through the bag in the dark.
And, there’s something better than the provided flashlight. The inside of both compartments is lined with a light grey material. This should be the standard for all manner of cases. No more having things getting lost in the bottom of a black bag.
When I showed it to my wife, she gave me a funny look. I asked what she thought, and she said that she “was kind of coveting it.” OK, now, she’s going to hell. Anyway, I looked into her beautiful eyes, remembered that it was still her Birthday Month, and handed it to her. I also muttered something under my breath, and that ensures I’ll be accompanying her down there at some point. Nearer term, I ordered a second one of these for myself.
